IGNITOR III INSTALLATION

Note: A magnet sleeve is not required and the air gap between the face of the
module and the cam is not adjustable.

Remove cap and rotor from distributor. Do not disconnect spark plug wires from cap.

1.

Examine cap and rotor for wear or damage. Replace as needed.

2.

Disconnect the points wire from the (-) terminal of the Ignition coil.

3.

Remove screws and lift out entire breaker plate assembly.

4.

The Ignitor III does not require any modification to the distributor. Therefore the

5.

breaker plate, breaker points, condenser and hardware can be used as backup.
Clean all dirt and excess oil from the point cam.

6.

Place the Ignitor III mounting plate inside the distributor, line up the cutout to the wire

7.

exit hole on the distributor. Fasten the plate into place using the original screw.

Note:

Only (1) screw is used to secure Ignitor III plate.
Push the grommet into the slot in the distributor housing. If your distributor has a

8.

round hole, remove the square grommet from the Ignitor III wires. Push the Ignitor
III wires through the round grommet. The tapered end of the grommet should point
away from the Ignitor III. Slide the grommet approximately half way up the wires.
Push the Ignitor III wires through the hole in the distributor housing and pull the
grommet into place.
Remove the excess wire from inside the distributor housing by gently pulling the wire

9.

through the grommet. Check to insure that the wire does not interfere with any mov-
ing parts.
Install the distributor cap and rotor. Check to insure that all spark plug wires are

10.

seated securely in the distributor cap.
See Wiring Instructions.
