INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

**Installation recommendation:

JBA recommends in most cases that the vehicle be t aken to a reputable exhaust shop.

9/16 deep socket
15mm deep socket
18mm socket
13mm socket
prybar
impact wrench
anti-seize
spray lubricant or penetrating oil
reciprocating saw or hack saw
rubber mallet
ratchet
pair of channel lock pliers

2. Disconnect negative battery cable and
allow vehicle exhaust to cool.

1. Remove and inventory new JBA
exhaust.

7. Using lubricant on both rear muffler
hanger grommets, remove both rubber
grommets from hangers leaving grom-
mets attached to vehicle.

13. Install provided muffler hanger (E)
thru existing grommets with U-bolt sup-
porting the muffler.

18. Slide turnout (C) over the tail pipe and
thru the u-bolt. Clamp and tighten.

19. Starting at front of muffler, tighten
clamp (D).

3. With vehicle raised and properly sup-
ported, using a reciprocating saw or hack
saw. Cut both tail pipes approximately 3î
behind muffler.

4. Spray lubricant on rear tail pipe hanger
grommet.

5. Using a pair of channel lock pliers,
remove hanger rod from bottom hole of
grommet.

6. Remove tail pipe assembly from the
rear of vehicle.

10. Using some form of heat and force,
disengage and remove muffler without
damaging head pipe.

11. Remove stock muffler hangers.

12. Align notch with locating pin and
install muffler (A) using a rubber mallet.

8. Lubricate front muffler clamp bolts.
Using an 18mm socket, loosen and
remove clamp.

9. Using a 13mm socket, remove nuts
from exhaust hanger in front of muffler.

17. Install u-bolt and heat shield (G) with
provided hardware.

14. Install provided front muffler clamp (D)
and hand tighten.

15. From rear of vehicle, install long end
of tail pipe over top of differential and then
slide approximately 1-1/2" into muffler.

16. Install rear tail pipe hanger (F) from
inside out as shown.

20. Rear muffler clamp (E) must be tight-
ened with grommets leaning forward
towards front of vehicle.

21. Tighten rear tail pipe clamp (F).

22. After installation, it is recommended
that all clamps be retightened and joints
tach welded in 3 spots.

23. Using a soft cloth, remove all prints
from turnout tip.

24. Lower vehicle and reattach the nega-
tive battery cable.

NOTES:
1) It may be necessary to loosen and
realign the spare tire for proper clear-
ance.

2) All exhaust systems will expand about
1î rearward when exhaust temperature
start to rise.

3) Use Anti-seize on threads of clamps D,
E and F.

We recommend taking the truck to a muffler shop and having all slip connections tack welded.
