these instructions completely prior to starting work.

Be sure to work safe! Whenever you work under the vehicle be sure that it is located on level, solid

ground and is supported by adequate safety stands! Remember: Hot asphalt will not support most jack
stands!

1) Disconnect Neg. Battery cable.

2) From under rear hood - Loosen two attaching bolts from sides of air box. (fig. 1) Disconnect MAF sensor

connector. (fig. 2) Loosen clamp on connector hose, (fig. 3) Remove air box from vehicle. (fig. 1)

3) From underneath - Remove rear section of belly pan.

4) Remove lower section of rear grille. Use blue masking tape to protect paint.

5) Remove mid-section of rear grille. This requires a 90 degree Phillips screwdriver

for the two small screws on the back panel. Use blue masking tape to protect paint

on body, and especially bumper extensions.

6) Loosen 6 nuts attaching muffler assy. to cat pipes.

7) Remove muffler support brackets. 4 nuts and bolts from muffler, 3 nuts from trans

bracket to muffler bracket, 4 bolts to trans. Separate and fish brackets out of car.

8) Loosen catalytic convertors at exhaust manifolds, enough to allow movement of

exhaust pipes.

9) From above- Move shifter arm to neutral position, push down, and swing forward.

10) Support the trans axle, and remove the cross bolt from the upper trans mount.

Lower trans to rest on frame, about ¾”.

11) Place some sort of padding, (fender covers, furniture pads, heavy blankets, etc.)

over rear of motor and diagonal braces. Use blue masking tape to protect inside

lower edge of hood.

12) Lift and roll muffler assy. out and up. Caution- Muffler assy. weighs close to 60

pounds. A helper is highly recommended.
