Prerequisites

This manual assumes that you have the following components installed, before setting up Microsoft Windows 2003

Certificate Services

Windows 2003 Server installed and configured as a Primary Domain Controller.

Active Directory configured to store users and computers.

DNS Server configured with your domain name.

Internet Information Services (IIS) installed (to be able to request a certificate through the Smart Card

Enrollment Station, as described in Chapter

3

).

Installing Certificate Services

note: In order to install and configure Certificate Services, you need to be logged on as an administrator of the

domain.

In Windows 2003, click

Start > Settings > control panel to open the Control Panel dialog box.
