This setion describes how to install and set up Microsoft Windows 2003 Certificate Services, comprising the following
aspects:

Prerequisites 2.1
This manual assumes that you have the following components installed, before setting up Microsoft Windows 2003
Certificate Services
Windows 2003 Server installed and configured as a Primary Domain Controller. •
Active Directory configured to store users and computers. •
DNS Server configured with your domain name. •
Internet Information Services (IIS) installed (to be able to request a certificate through the Smart Card •
Enrollment Station, as described in Chapter 3 ).

note: In order to install and configure Certificate Services, you need to be logged on as an administrator of the
domain.
In Windows 2003, click 1. Start > Settings > control panel to open the Control Panel dialog box.
