Terminal Operations
The Console Menu
Each DSR1024 switch can be configured at the appliance level through the Console menu interface
accessed through the SETUP port on the back panel of the switch. You can access all terminal
commands through a terminal or PC running terminal emulation software.
NOTE: Avocent does not recommend this method for setting options for the DSR1024 switch. The preferred
method is to make all configuration settings except those for the web server in the DSView 3 software. The web
server can be configured only through the Console menu interface.

DSR1024 switch.
Network Configuration
To configure network settings using the Console menu:
1. When you power on your DSR1024 switch, the switch initializes for approximately one
minute. After it completes initialization, press any key on the terminal or on the PC running the
terminal emulation software to access the Console menu interface as shown in Figure 5.1 on
page 46.
NOTE: The terminal can be connected at any time, even when the switch is already powered on.
