Re lease gland pres sure. Tighten rea son ably. If seal ing liq uid does
not flow while pump op er ates, re place pack ing.

Check align ment. Ex am ine pump for rub bing be tween im pel ler and
cas ing. Re place dam aged parts. Re-pipe pump.

Shaft bent due to dam age — through
ship ment, op er a tion, or over haul.
Check de flec tion of ro tor by turn ing on bear ing jour nals. To tal
in di ca tor run-out should not ex ceed .002" on shaft and .004"
on im pel ler wear ing sur face.

Me chan i cal fail ure of crit i cal pump parts.
Check wear rings and im pel ler for dam age. Any ir reg u lar ity in these
parts will cause a drag on shaft.

Mis align ment.
Re align pump and driver.

Speed may be too high
Check volt age on mo tor. Check speed ver sus pump name plate rat ing.

Elec tri cal de fects
The volt age and fre quency of the elec tri cal cur rent may be lower than
that for which mo tor was built, or there may be de fects in mo tor. The
mo tor may not be ven ti lated prop erly do to a poor lo ca tion.
