Cleaning

Intensive Cleaning

In order to avoid confusion about the components, do not dismantle
more than one instrument at a time. A calibration, and any necessary
adjustment, must be carried out after dismantling or replacement of a
piston/cylinder assembly.

Depending on the frequency of use, we recommend that any crystal-
line deposits on top of the piston be removed at regular intervals
of approx. 8 weeks. For this, carry out steps 6-13 of the standard
cleaning procedure.

Crystallizing solutions e.g.,
KOH in alcohol

Note:

1.

Preparation for intensive cleaning

a) Always perform a complete standard cleaning before further

dismantling the instrument.

b) Pull out the recirculation tube and the telescoping filling tube.

9.

Loosen the safety ring of the piston/cylinder assembly with the
mounting tool, and unscrew it completely by hand (Fig. 9).

10.

Withdraw the locking mechanism of the piston rod up to the
stop (Fig. 10).

11.

Move the top part of the instrument all the way to the top by
turning the hand wheels, and remove it (Fig. 11).

12.

Remove possible crystal deposits at the upper edge of the dis-
pensing cylinder e.g. with water and a soft bottle-brush. Then,
dry it off with cellulose paper (Fig. 12).

13.

Remount the top of the instrument, or further dismantle the
instrument for intensive cleaning if necessary.
