LDAP support

Fiery System 8e servers support LDAP with
the mechanism to query/retrieve
information through the LDAP server. The
information comes from external email
servers like Outlook Exchange or Lotus
Notes and currently includes email
addresses that are used for sending scan
jobs.
Fiery uses LDAP to browse corporate server
address books for retrieval or
authentication purposes as described in the
table below:

Error Handling - If Fiery cannot access the

necessary information on the LDAP server, it
fails with the following conditions:

• LDAP server not available.
• Information on LDAP server not available.
• Invalid user password.

Email Address Access - Fiery requires

email addresses to specify destinations for
scan-to-email and scan-to-Internet fax
messages. Fiery can access email addresses
stored in an address book local to Fiery
and/or via LDAP on the corporate server.
Fiery can retrieve single or multiple email
addresses for this functionality.

Address Book - The following are

characteristics of the address book stored
locally on Fiery:

• Administrators can create an address

book locally on Fiery. This address book
is global to all users having access to
Fiery.

• A separate administration program is

required to manipulate the local address
book.

• Additions, deletions and modifications to

addresses are only allowed when the
addresses are part of the local address
book resident on Fiery.

• Simplified setup using network

administration LDAP standards allows Fiery
to become an integral component in a
productive workgroup and throughout the
enterprise.

• Users have the ability to download

their email addresses to populate the
scan address book, saving time and
making it easy to maintain the user’s
distribution list.

• Scanned documents can be routed to

LDAP validated addresses.
