Intended Use

This device is used for:

• Playing back audio/MP3 CDs.

It is intended exclusively for this purpose and may only
be used as such. It may only be used in the manner
described in these instructions for use. The device must
not be used for commercial purposes.

Any other use of this device is considered to be contrary
to the intended use and may result in damage to materi-
als or even personal injury.

The fi rm ETV – Elektro-Technische Vertriebsgesellschaft
mbH does not accept any liability for damage caused as a
result of the use of this device contrary to its intended use.

Commissioning the device

CD deck transport protection

• Shift the OPEN key (9) to the right to open the CD

compartment (8).

• Remove the transport protection from the CD player

if present before use.

Inserting the battery/batteries
(battery/batteries not supplied)

• Open the battery compartment (17) on the inside of

the machine.

• Insert 2 1.5V R6, AA type batteries. Match the

polarities correctly (see the inside of the battery
compartment).

• Close the battery compartment.
• A battery symbol in the display indicates that the

batteries need to be replaced.

• If the device is not used for a prolonged period,

please remove the batteries in order to avoid the
leakage of battery acid.

CAUTION:

• Diff erent battery types or new and used batteries

must not be used together.

• Batteries are not to be disposed of together with

domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at
the relevant collection bin or at your dealer’s.

WARNING:

Do not expose the batteries to high temperatures or
direct sunlight. Never throw batteries into the fi re.
There is a danger of explosion!

Mains Operation
(power pack not supplied)

It is possible to operate the device using the mains power
unit.

1. Insert the plug of the power unit into a correctly

installed 230V, 50 Hz wall socket.

2. Connect the CD player to the power unit by inserting

the plug of the power unit into the DC 4.5 V socket (12).

3. When using a power unit (DC 4.5V/600mA) ensure

the correct polarity according to the inscriptions on
the CD player.

General Operation

HOLD (16)

This blocks the functions of all keys on the device and
is intended to protect against a key being activated
accidentally. When the switch is pushed to the right the
word ”HOLD” appears in the display.

OPEN (9)

For opening the CD compartment.

4,5 V socket (12)

For connecting to a mains adapter.

LINE-OUT (5)

For connection to a stereo system, for example.

BBS (4)

This is used to amplify the bass sounds. With the func-
tion switched on BBS appears in the display.

VOLUME (7)

This is used to control the volume.

PHONES (6)

For connecting to the headphones or earphones.

Switching off

You can turn the device off by pressing the

˾ STOP

button (3) once, or twice if the device is running.

NOTE:

If the device is not operated in stop mode, it switches
off automatically after approximately 30 seconds.

Playing CDs

1. Shift the OPEN key (9) to the right to open the CD

compartment.

2. Insert a CD with the label facing upwards and press

carefully over the button until it snaps into place.
Close the CD compartment.

3. Press

the

̈II PLAY/PAUSE button (2) to switch the

device on and play back the CD. The letters „Cd“,
„ESP“ appear in the display and „MP3“ fl ashes. Then
the number of tracks appears briefl y together with
the total running time. The CD starts from the fi rst
track. The track currently being played and the time
that has elapsed are shown in the display.
