Settings suited to situation and purpose
Enabling the digital zoom
The zoom lets you change the scope and composition of the picture you
are taking.
The optical zoom is locked at the position W and cannot be used. To use the
zoom in movie mode, set DIGITAL ZOOM to ON in the mode menu.
Set DIGITAL ZOOM to On.

Press the zoom button.
Press the T side of the zoom button to
zoom in on a distant object.
Press the W side of the zoom button to
zoom out and obtain a broader view.
The zoom indicator shows the zoom
position while the zoom button is
pressed.
Pictures taken with the digital zoom may appear grainy.
Camera movement is likely to occur at higher magnifications. Stabilize the
camera with a tripod, etc. to avoid camera movement.
Turning off the monitor deactivates the digital zoom. When DIGITAL ZOOM
is set to ON, turning on the monitor automatically activates the digital zoom.
The focus is locked at the first picture and the camera may not focus
properly on a subject at a different distance.
