Installgeneratoroutdoorsinanareawhichwillnot

accumulatedeadlyexhaustgas.DONOTinstallgenerator

whereexhaustgascouldaccumulateandenterinsideorbe

drawnintoapotentiallyoccupiedbuilding.Ensureexhaust

gasiskeptawayfromanywindows,doors,ventilationintakes

orotheropeningsthatcanallowexhaustgastocollectina

confinedarea.Prevailingwindsandaircurrentsshouldbe

takenintoconsiderationwhenpositioninggenerator.

Runningenginegivesoffcarbonmonoxide,an

odorless,colorless,poisongas.
Breathingcarbonmonoxidecancause

headache,fatigue,dizziness,vomiting,

confusion,seizures,nausea,fainting,ordeath.

OperategeneratorONLYoutdoors.
Installabatteryoperatedcarbonmonoxidealarmnear

thebedrooms.
Keepexhaustgasfromenteringaconfinedareathrough

windows,doors,ventilationintakes,orotheropenings.

 • Placetheunitinapreparedlocationthatisflatandhas

provisionsforwaterdrainage.

 • Installtheunitinalocationwheresumppump

discharge,raingutterdownspouts,roofrun-off,

landscapeirrigation,orwatersprinklerswillnotflood

theunitorspraytheenclosureandenteranyairinlet

ouroutletopenings.

 • Installtheunitwherethelocationofanyservicessuch

asphone,electrical,fuel,airconditioning,irrigation,

includingcovered,concealedandundergroundservices

willnotbeaffectedorobstructed.

 • Installtheunitwhereairinletandoutletopeningswill

notbecomeobstructedbyleaves,grass,snow,etc.If

prevailingwindswillcauseblowingordrifting,youmay

needtoconstructawindbreaktoprotecttheunit.

 • Installthegeneratorascloseaspossibletothe

TransferSwitchandfuelsupplytoreducethelengthof

wiring,conduit,andpiping.

IMPORTANT:Lawsorlocalcodesmayregulatethedistance

tothefuelsupply.
TheMinimum(MIN)clearancesfromaerialviewofgenerator

(B)tocombustible(D),andnon-combustible(A)materialsis

shownbelow.
 • Thesedistancesareprovidedtogivegeneratorlocation

guidancerelativeONLYtocombustibles,generator

cooling,andmaintenance.

 • Theminimumdistancesinthefigureareasshown.

Allfoursidesofthegeneratorcannotbeenclosed

orrestricted,eveniftheminimumdistancesare

maintained.DONOTconnect(A)and/or(D)to(E)

 • Aroofcannotbeused.
 • Exhaust(C)mustnotbeallowedtoaccumulate.

Attachunittoslabwith1/4”diameter(minimum)masonry

anchorboltslongenoughtoretaintheunit.
