Chapter 3 Creating Your First Movie 23
To set up your camera:
1 Insert the tape with your video footage, turn on the camera, and switch the camera to
VTR mode.
2 Connect your video camera to your computer using a FireWire cable, as shown above.
3 Open iMovie HD.
4 Click Make a Magic iMovie in the iMovie HD project window.
5 Enter a project name and choose a location on your computer for the new project.
iMovie HD is preset to import video from a standard digital video camera. If your
camera is a high definition or widescreen camera, click the Video format disclosure
triangle and choose the video format of your camera.
6 Click Create.
The Make a Magic iMovie dialog appears. Here you can select how iMovie HD creates
your video.
