4. At the front top of the outer boom (4), remove one of the retaining rings (5)

from the clevis mounting pin (6). Remove the pin from the mounting plates.
Inspect the pin for wear or other damage. Replace the pin if damaged.

5. Move the extend chain clevis (7) to the next hole toward the rear of the

mounting plates. Coat the mounting pin with an anti-seize compound and
reinsert the pin through the mounting plates and the clevis. Reassemble
the retaining ring.

6. Return to the cab, start the engine and fully retract the boom. Shut the vehi-

cle OFF.

7. At the front underside of the outer boom (8), tighten the retract chain

adjustment nut (9) to remove the excess slack from the chains.

8. Recheck extend chain tension. Refer to ìTop Boom Chain Tension Adjust-

mentî on page 150, and readjust.

NOTE: If the extend chain is still cannot be adjusted within the range of 3.00"
(76 mm) and 4.00" (102 mm) the clevis can be repositioned to the last hole in the
mounting plates on the front of the outer boom (10). If all adjustment has been used
up, the chain and clevis must be replaced. Refer to the Service Manual for proce-
dure.
