Tire Inflation

Check inflation pressure weekly during use to insure the maximum
tire life and tread wear. It is important to check your vehicle's tire
pressure at least once a month for the following reasons:

• Most tires may naturally lose air over time.

• Tires can lose air suddenly if you drive over a pothole or other

object or if you strike the curb when parking.

• With radial tires, it is usually not possible to determine under

inflation by visual inspection.

The recommended tire inflation pressure that vehicle manufacturers
provide reflects the proper psi when a tire is cold. When you drive,
your tires get warmer, causing the air pressure within them to
increase. Therefore, to get an accurate tire pressure reading, you
must measure tire pressure when the tires are cold or compensate
for the extra pressure in warm tires.

Tire Wear

Inspect tires periodically for wear or damage. Tires with less than
1/16" (2 mm) tread depth or visible wear bands require replace-
ment.

A bubble, cut or bulge in a sidewall can result in a tire blowout.
Inspect both sidewalls of each tire for any bubble, cut or bulge;
and replace a damaged tire before towing the trailer.

WORN, DAMAGED OR UNDER-INFLATED TIRES CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL,
RESULTING IN DAMAGE, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. INSPECT TIRES BEFORE EACH
TOW.

The following tire wear diagnostic chart will help you pinpoint
the causes and solution of tire wear problems.
