Installing ME-1

6.1 Mounting the unit

6.2 Cat5 cable

Use STP (shielded twisted pair) CAT5e or
higher cables. Those with both foil and

braided screens provide shielding from
interference and are generally more rugged.
Stranded core cables are less prone to
damage when kinked or repeatedly coiled.
ME-1 provides locking Neutrik EtherCon
sockets to protect the connections and
ensure suitability for touring. Use cables fitted
with locking EtherCon plugs.
Maximum length per cable

= 100m (330’)

6.3 Ethernet Switch

For parallel connection of multiple ME-1
mixers each with their own cable you can use

a standard off-the-shelf Ethernet switch.

Note

Aviom® A-Net 16 is not compatible

with standard Ethernet switches.
An unmanaged 100 Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet) or

Gigabit switch is suitable.

Note

The use of a 3-layer PoE switch is not

recommended.
For PoE (Power over Ethernet) either of the

two standards 802.3af (15.4W at source) or
802.at (25.5W at source) is suitable. Check
that the overall power rating is enough to
provide for all ME-1 mixers you wish to

connect (allow 15W per mixer).
The Allen & Heath ME-U hub provides PoE
and connections for up to 10 ME-1 mixers.
