Step 5

Take the roll of electrical tape and start wrapping around the Mastic Tape about a 1” – 2”
beyond where the Mastic Tape ends. Start from the bottom (where the grounding cable
assembly cable meets the coaxial cable). Make the first layer of electrical tape snug, but not
tight, to prevent the Mastic Tape from coming through the cracks. For the second and third
layers of electrical tape, wrap those very tight to take out any wrinkles or air bubbles to create
a smooth, uniform-looking surface.

Step 6

Each grounding cable assembly includes three feet of cable to allow you to connect it to your
grounding bus bar (not provided) at the bottom. Each Grounding Kit comes with bolts,
grounding lug, locks, washers and a heat shrink tube to use for this purpose. Cut the
grounding cable assembly cable to the appropriate length. Strip this end of the cable so the
center conductor is exposed by using a blade or a stripping tool. Put the heat shrink tube
over the end of the exposed cable. Put the ground lug on the end of the cable and crimp
firmly. Perform a pull test to ensure the lug is crimped tightly onto the cable. Pull the heat
shrink over the lug. The heat shrink should cover both the lug and a portion of the cable.
Using a heat gun, lightly wave the gun over the heat shrink to provide a good seal. Ensure
you do not overheat the cable jacket. Use the remaining provided hardware to firmly attach
the lug to your ground bus bar.
