Replacing the SODIMM Memory Module

The SODIMM memory module in the WD Sentinel server is “cold swappable.” This means
that the WD Sentinel server must be shut down prior to your module replacement. To shut
down your WD Sentinel server, follow the steps outline in “Shutting Down and Rebooting the
Server” on page 40.

What you’ll Need:

Phillips screwdriver

Replacement SODIMM Memory module

Replacing a SODIMM Memory Module

1.

Shut down the server.

2.

Disconnect all external connections.

3.

Follow the steps outlined in “Removing the Unit Cover” on page 87.

4.

Disconnect all cables attached to the assembly.

Important: To avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) problems, ground yourself by

touching metal before handling the device.

Important:

Ensure that you carefully lift the ZIF connector gate and remove the ZIF

Display Connector.
