Installation and Operating Instructions

802R Sealed Contact Limit Switches

IMPORTANT: SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE.

General data

• Single contact sealed in glass envelope for high

reliability in contaminated atmospheres

• Programmable controller compatible at 24 volts and above
• 0.5 inch NPT conduit connection
• Lever type with spring return or maintained operation
• push type, wobble stick and cat whisker with spring

return operation

• Low operating torque (0.78 lb·in) lever type with spring

return requires 802T-W5 rod lever

• 802T-W6 micrometer adjustable roller lever provides

precise positioning with lever type models

The 802R sealed limit switches are available in several
configurations. Adhere to approved industry standard practices
and electrical codes when installing and wiring limit switches.
Contact Rockwell Automation support if clarification is needed.

Do not disconnect equipment while the
circuit is live unless the area is known to be
free of ignitable concentrations.
To avoid electrical shock and/or unintended
operation of equipment, disconnect all
power to the limit switch and the controlled
equipment before proceeding with any
repair or adjustment of the limit switch.

Handle with care. Contacts are
encapsulated in glass.

Lever positioning

The lever on rotary actuated
devices is adjustable to any
position through 360° around the
shaft. Loosen the nut, move lever
to desired position, and securely
retighten the nut (see figure).

Mounting

Position the conduit entering the switch so that any fluid
inside the conduit will not drain into the switch enclosure.
Apply sealing compound to conduit threads to prevent
entrance of fluid through the threads.

Do not energize the 802R limit switch in
explosive environments above 40°C (due to
potential ignition). The 802R has UL/CSA
temperature code of T6 at 40°C (104°F).

After wiring has been completed, check all
wiring screws for tightness.
