Insert the PCMK Card
The diagrams in this chapter show a PCMCIA 2.1 compliant notebook computer
that may not match the computer you are using. Your installation may be slightly
different. Follow the instructions in this chapter to install or remove the PCMK card.
1. Open the door to the PCMCIA slot. Some card slots do not have doors.
IMPORTANT
In most cases, except for when you are using the Windows NT
operating system you can insert or remove the PCMK card from a
powered computer. However, different application programs
accessing the PCMK card behave differently. Some applications,
for example, INTERCHANGE software, do not support removing
and reinserting the card.
If you are using the Windows NT operating system without third
party plug and play software, you cannot insert or remove the
card when powered. In all cases, you should stop all
communication software to the PCMK Card before removing it.
With the Windows NT operating system, you should shut down
the system.
