To replace one brand with another permanently

If a workstation with Plantguard software must be converted to be a Trusted workstation or vice versa:

Uninstall all existing Plantguard or Trusted software

Restart if requested

Delete the ident32.dll file (restart if access is denied; the file is still in use)

Install the new Plantguard or Trusted software

To use both brands together

If both versions are needed on a workstation, it is possible to replace the identity file. It cannot be
deleted whilst in use, but it can be renamed.

Close all Trusted and Plantguard applications

Rename the file to identify it as Trusted or Plantguard as appropriate

Install the other branded software

The file named ident32.dll will be active

In the example below, the Trusted identity file is active. The Plantguard identity file has been renamed
ident32p.dll. If Plantguard operation is necessary, rename the Trusted identity file (e.g. ident32t.dll) and
change the Plantguard filename to ident32.dll.

The SOE collector and system configuration tool are stand-alone applications, and multiple
installations in any location are possible; the identity file will control their operation. The Toolset will
install in c:\Trusted or c:\Plantgrd by default, and will only display applications and library elements
loaded into that location.

The OPC server (Windows Service versions) will only be able to use the first installed service, and so
proper parallel operation is not possible (e.g. the Trusted OPC configuration program may be
configuring the ‘PlantguardOPCServer’). A clean uninstall, restart and new install are necessary to
cleanly switch between OPC servers.
