SERVICING
SCOPE
The MBB is not field repairable. Field servicing operations are confined to the total replacement
of faulty MBBs.
Return faulty MBBs for repair.
DIAGNOSIS
A faulty MBB will be apparent by a single I/O channel failure affecting all the field devices
serviced by a particular extension chassis. The Health LED may also extinguish.
CONFIGURATION
There are no on-board configurable links.
Refer to section Figure 2-5 for chassis address link settings.
REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
Withdraw the faulty MBB using the ejector levers and replace it with a serviceable one and
check that the Health LED illuminates.
When the MBB is withdrawn from the chassis Fault bit 1 will be set immediately.
The corresponding MPP may halt, this will depend on the length of time the MBB slot remains
empty and on the progress of the diagnostic task stepping through the system (1 second per
slot).
If the MPP does halt carry out a warm start after the serviceable MBB has been fitted.
