OWNER’S MANUAL

Hearing  Enhancement  &  Protection

Increases  Hearing  up  to  9  times  by  amplifying  high  frequency  sounds  with  50  decibels  of  power.
Protects   Hearing   using   a   Sound   Activation   Compression   (SAC)   circuit   combined   with   an   earplug
helps   protect   hearing   from   loud   sounds   such   as   muzzle   blasts.   Noise   Reduction   Rating   (NRR)   of

29dB  is  among  the  highest  in  the  industry.
Adjustable   Frequency   Tuning   (AFT)   focuses   on   specific   sound   frequencies   for   crystal-‐clear

reception  in  any  situation.
Weighs  less  than  ¼  oz.  and  rests  comfortably  behind  either  ear,  with  or  without  eyeglasses.

4  Program  Settings:

P1:    General
Program  one  is  for  use  in  everyday  situations  from  enhancing  a  speaker’s  voice  when  you  are
seated  in  the  last  row  of  a  church  or  auditorium  to  enhancing  the  sounds  of  nature  during  a
leisurely  stroll  through  the  outdoors.  Use  program  one  to  protect  your  hearing  while  cutting
the  grass,  using  power  tools,  or  target  shooting.
 P2:    Nature
Program  two  is  adjusted  to  further  enhance  the  high  frequency  sounds  of  nature.  Distant  birds
will  sound  like  they  are  sitting  on  your  shoulder  and  you  will  be  the  first  to  hear  faint  calls  from
game  like  elk  and  turkey.  Program  two  reacts  in  milliseconds  to  protect  you  hearing  from  the
loud  report  of  a  rifle  or  shotgun.
P3:  Loud  Events
Protect  your  hearing  while  attending  loud  events  like  rock  concerts,  Nascar  races,  Tractor  pulls,
etc.
Do  your  ears  ring  after  attending  loud  social  events?  That  is  a  sure  sign  of  noise  exposure  and  a
precursor  to  hearing  loss.  Program  3  is  tuned  to  provide  a  full  spectrum  of  sound.  This  lets  you
experience   the   rich   natural   sounds   of   music   and   the   rumble   of   the   Nascar   while
protecting  your  hearing.  Unlike  sound  plugs  that  distort  sound,  P3  provides  a  natural  full  sound
experience.   The   strong   low-‐end   response   of   P3   makes   it   ideal   for   enhancing   low   frequency
game  sounds  like  deer  grunts.
P4:  Power  Boost
Program  four  is  adjusted  to  provide  a  zoom  effect  as  it  instantly  increases  power  and  focuses
on  high  frequency  sounds.  With  the  push  of  a  button  hear  the  faintest  game  sounds  at  great
distances.
Hearing  protection  is  not  compromised  with  the  increased  power  provided  in  P4.  Loud  sounds
are  limited  to  safe  levels.

Installing  the  Battery

Remove  sticker  from  battery.  To  insert  battery,  open  battery  compartment  by  pulling  down
on   the   rim   of   the   compartment   door.   The   battery   is   held   in   place   by   a   small   lip   on   the
bottom  of  the  compartment.  Place  the  battery  into  the  compartment  so  that  the  (+)  sign

side  of  the  battery  is  facing  up;  when  the  battery  is  inserted  correctly,  compartment  door
will  close  with  ease.  A  #13  Mercury  or  Zinc  Air  battery  is  recommended.

With  the  unit  facing  this  direction,  the  “+”  sign  on  the  battery  goes

the

opposite  the  lip  on  the  batter  compartment  door.  Also,  inside  the  unit  is  a  red  dot  identifying  the
“+”  side.
NOTE:  A  weak  battery  may  cause  the  unit  to  buzz  or  hum.

WARNING:  Button  Cell  Batteries  are  Dangerous  if  Swallowed

Turning  the  Unit  On  /  Off

After   inserting   the   battery,   close   the   door   completely   to   turn   the   unit   on.   Turn   the   unit   off   by
opening  the  battery  door  to  the  first  stop  (click).

Operating  the  Volume  Control

Increase   the   volume   on   the   HD   Power   Elite   by   pressing   the   top   of   the   Volume   Control   toggle.
Decrease  the  volume  by  pressing  the  bottom  of  the  Volume  Control  toggle.  NOTE:  The  HD  Power
Elite   has   a   built-‐in   “safety”   circuit,   which   limits   the   output   of   the   instrument   to   a   maximum   of
115dB  SPL.

• Once   the   battery   door   is   completely   shut,   you   will   hear   the   unit   turn   on   by   4   upscale   tones.

(The  unit  has  19  levels  of  volume.)

• Each   time   you   press   the   Volume   Control   toggle   either   higher   or   lower,   you   will   hear   a   single

tone.

• Once  you’ve  reached  either  the  maximum  or  minimum  limit,  you  will  hear  a  double  tone.
• Adjust  the  volume  to  a  comfortable  listening  level.

Adjusting  the  Program  Settings

You  can  change  the  Program  settings  on  the  HD  Power  Elite  to  what  best  fits  your  environment.

• Once  the  battery  door  is  completely  shut,  you  will  hear  the  unit  turn  on  by  4  upscale  tones.
• Press  and  hold  down  the  Volume  Control  toggle  to  switch  between  settings.  You  will  hear  ONE

beep  for  P1:  General,  TWO  beeps  for  P2:  Nature,  THREE  beeps  for  P3:  Loud  Events  and  FOUR
beeps  for  P4:  Power  Boost.

• Once  you’ve  reached  the  setting  you  desire,  adjust  the  volume  to  a  comfortable  listening  level.

Operating  the  AFT

The  AFT  (Adjustable  Frequency  Tuning)  is  located  directly  above  the
volume  control  toggle  switch.
• Insert  the  enclosed  screwdriver  in  the  bottom  center  of  the  ADT

pop-‐up  hinged  door.

• The  AFT  circuit  is  a  setscrew  marked  NH  (Normal  –  High).
• With  the  AFT  set  screw  in  the  7:00  position  the  emphasis  is  on  the

lower  end  of  the  high  frequencies.  By  turning  the  AFT  set  screw  to
the  right  (clockwise)  you  are  changing  the  emphasis  to  the  higher
frequencies,  with  the  maximum  setting  at  the  5:00  position.

To  find  the  best  setting  for  you,  turn  the  setscrew  to  the  desired  reception.  Different  conditions
and  environments  may  need  different  settings.

Complications,  Which  May  Arise

If   conditions   such   as   irritation,   inflammation   and   pain   arise,   they   are   normally   due   to   pressure
applied  from  the  earplug  on  a  particularly  sensitive  area  of  your  ear.  You  may  easily  be  able  to
correct  this  by  trimming  the  earplug  at  the  point  of  irritation.  For  an  actual  allergic  reaction,  or  any

other  unusual  conditions,  consult  your  physician.
Storing  the  HD  Power  Elite:  When  the  unit  won’t  be  used  for  an  extended  period  of  time,  remove

the  battery  and  place  the  unit  in  its  carrying  case  for  storage  in  a  cool,  dry  location.
Batteries   (Avg.   Life   360   Hrs):   After   extended   use   of   your   battery,   the   unit   sound   volume   will
rapidly   get   weaker,   and   may   become   noisy   and   ineffective   in   operation.   This   indicates   that   the
battery  should  be  replaced.  Always  remove  the  battery  if  your  unit  is  not  going  to  be  used  for  a

period  of  days.
If  Your  Elite  HD  Power  Whistles:  Whistling/squealing  may  sometimes  occur  as  you  cup  your  hand
over  your  ear  and  adjust  the  volume  control.  This  action  directs  sound  leaking  from  the  earplug
into  the  microphone,  resulting  in  a  whistle.  This  should  disappear  when  you  take  your  hand  away.
If  not,  check  to  make  sure  the  earplug  is  inserted  properly.

In  the  event  a  battery  swallowed,  immediately  contact:
