Memory Capacity Reporting

The system management software may report an incorrect memory capacity for your system. On
the attributes screen for the memory array, the capacity may be stated as double the actual capacity. To
correct this issue, go to support.dell.com and download and install the latest system BIOS upgrade for
your system.

Installing a PERC5i SAS RAID Controller

The optional SAS RAID controller allows for up to six hard drives in your system. When configuring your
system with a SAS RAID controller, make sure that the signal cable for drives 0 to 3 is connected to the
SAS_0 connector on the SAS RAID controller, and the cable for drives 4 and 5 is connected
to the SAS_1 connector (see Figure 1-2).

I/OAT DMA Engine
(Disabled default)

Enables or disables the I/O Acceleration Technology (I/OAT) option. When set to
Enabled, I/OAT reduces system CPU usage for applications that use TCP by
offloading part of the TCP receive operation to the DMA engine.

Low Power Mode
(Disabled default)

Enables or disables Low Power Mode of the memory. When set to Enabled, the
memory runs at reduced speed to conserve power. Disabled sets the memory to run
at full speed.

Serial Communication Screen Option

Failsafe Baud Rate
(115200 default)

Displays the failsafe baud rate used for console redirection when the baud rate
cannot be negotiated automatically with the remote terminal. This rate should not
be adjusted.
