Removing the Thermal-Cooling Assembly

 

Removing the Thermal-Cooling Assembly

There is one thermal-cooling assembly for both the integrated video and the processor.

 

1.

Follow the instructions in "

Preparing to Work Inside the Computer

."


 

2.

Remove the

hard drive

.


 

3.

Remove the

center control cover

.


 

4.

Remove the

display assembly

.


 

5.

Remove the

keyboard

.


 

6.

Remove the

palm rest

.


 

7.

Loosen in consecutive order the eight captive screws. They are labeled "1" through "4" on each side of the thermal-cooling assembly.

 

8.

Lift the thermal-cooling assembly straight up and remove it from the system board.

CAUTION:

Before performing the following procedures, read the safety instructions in your Product Information Guide.

NOTICE:

To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such

as the back panel) on the computer.

NOTICE:

Disconnect the computer and any attached devices from electrical outlets, and remove any installed batteries.

NOTICE:

To ensure maximum cooling for the microprocessor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the thermal-cooling assembly. The oils in your skin

reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal pads.
