Replacing the Memory Module(s)

Procedure

Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the

memory-module connector.

Slide the memory module firmly into the connector at a 45-degree angle, and press
the memory module down until it clicks into place. If you do not hear the click,
remove the memory module and reinstall it.

NOTE: If the memory module is not installed properly, the computer may

not boot.

Insert the tabs on the memory-module shield into the slots on the

system-board shield and then slide the memory-module shield toward the bottom
of the computer. Ensure that the screw hole on the memory-module shield aligns
with the screw hole on the system-board shield.

Replace the screw that secures the memory-module shield to the

system-board shield.

Postrequisites

Replace the back cover. See "Replacing the Back Cover" on page 20.

Replace the stand. See "Replacing the Stand" on page 18.

Replace the stand cover. See "Replacing the Stand Cover" on page 16.

4

Follow the instructions in "After Working Inside Your Computer" on page 13.

As the computer boots, it detects the memory module(s) and automatically updates the
system configuration information.

To confirm the amount of memory installed on your computer:

Click Start

→ Control Panel→ System and Security→ System.
