3.

Disconnect any telephone or telecommunication lines from the computer.

4.

Disconnect your computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets, and then press the power button to ground the system board.

5.

Remove any installed PC Cards from the PC Card slot.

6.

Close the display and turn the computer upside down on a flat work surface.

7.

Slide and hold the battery-bay latch release on the bottom of the computer, and then remove the battery from the bay.

 

8.

Remove any installed modules, including a second battery, if installed.

9.

Remove the

hard drive

Memory

 

You can increase your computer memory by installing memory modules on the system board. See "

Specifications

" for information on the memory supported by

your computer. Install only memory modules that are intended for your computer.

Turn the computer over, loosen the captive screw in the memory module cover, and lift the cover away from the computer.

 

 

NOTICE:

To disconnect a network cable, first unplug the cable from your computer and then unplug it from the network device.

CAUTION:

To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the electrical outlet before opening the cover.

NOTICE:

Before touching anything inside your computer, ground yourself by touching an unpainted metal surface, such as the metal at the back of the

computer. While you work, periodically touch an unpainted metal surface to dissipate any static electricity that could harm internal components.

NOTICE:

To connect a network cable, first plug the cable into the network device and then plug it into the computer.

NOTICE:

To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you service the computer.
