(AUDIO 1, 2) and 5.1CH OUTPUT connecfors according
to the audio equipment to be connected.

• OFF: turns off the audio attenuation.
• ON: reduces the audio output level so that no sound

distortion occurs.

Note

The setting does not affect the output from the DIGITAL OUT

OPTICAL and COAXIAL connectors.

■ AUDIO FILTER

Selects the type of digital filter to reduce the noise of a
frequency higher than 22.05kHz (fs 44.1kHz), 24kHz (fs
48kHz) or 48kHz (fs 96kHz).

• SHARP: makes the sound dear and provides smooth

sound reproduction. Normally set this position.

• SLOW: makes the sound warm and deep.

Note

Depending on the disc, the effect on the sound may be difficult to

hear.

■ AUDIO DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

Makes the sound dear with the \'olume turned down at
night, etc., when you plav a DVD. This affects the output
from the DIGITAL OUT connectors onh’ when "PCM" in
"DIGITAL OUT" is set to "ON," and it affects the output
from the LINE OUT (AUDIO 1,2), and 5.ICH OUTPUT
connectors.

• STANDARD: Normally select this position.
• TV MODE: makes the low sound clear even if you

turned the \'oIume down, so it is good for playing at
night. It is esprecially recommended when you listen to
the sound using the speakers of the TV.

• WIDE RANGE: It gives you the feeling of being at a live

performance. When you use high quality speakers, it is
more effective.

Notes

• When you plav DVDs without the AUDIO DRC function, there

maybe no effect on the sound.

• When this item is set to "W'IDE RANGE," the sound c'oiume

frtim other than the 5.1CH OUTPUT connectors may be less

than usual.

• "WIDE RANGE" cannot be selected when you have selected

"NONE" in "SIZE" under "SPEAKER SETUP."

■ TRACK SELECTION

Gives the sound track which contains the highest number
of the channels priority when you play a DVD on which
multiple audio formats are recorded. If multiple audio
charmels are recorded in PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital
format, the higher-numbered channel audio recorded in
PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital format is played.

• OFF : No priority given.
• AUTO : Priority given.

Notes

• When the player stores the settings in memory with the

Playback Memory function, the player may not give priority

even if you select "AUTO."

• When you set this item to "AUTO," the language may change

depending on the "AUDIO" settings in "LANGUAGE SETUP."

The "TRACK SELECTION" setting has higher priority than

that of "AUDIO" settings in "LANGUAGE SETUP" (page 52).

• If you set "DTS" in "AUDIO SETUP" to "OFF," the DTS sound

track is not played even if you set this item tt) "AUTO" and the

highest-numbered channel audio is recorded in DTS format.

• If PCM, DTS and Dolby Digital sound tracks have the same

number of the highest channels, the player selects PCM, DTS

and Dolby Digital sound tracks, in this order.

• Depending on the DVD, the audio with priority mav be

predetermined. In this case, vou cannot give priority to the

DTS or Dolby Digital format by selecting "AUTO."
