Ethernet ports

The Ethernet cable from the studio network connects to either of the two Ethernet ports ([24],
[30], see Fig. 2). The Ethernet port [24] can be connected via a short cable to the Fusion head,
if required (consult the relevant Fusion Operators Guide for more information).

Connecting power and Ethernet to the Fusion head

If you are using the FP-188 pedestal or FPH-188 height drive with a Fusion head, power and
Ethernet can be connected from the pedestal or height drive to the head using a Head
communication cable (part no. V3990-5055).

FVR interface connection

The FVR interface connector [27] is connected to the Ped connector on the FVR box using the
interface cable (part no. V3990-5197).

USB configuration port

The USB port [34] is located beneath a protective cover on the North side of the base. This port
allows external connection to a pedestal configuration software tool.

Servo configuration port

The servo configuration port [35] is located beneath a protective cover beside the USB port [6]
and allows trained service engineers to configure servo motor settings.

Balancing the load

The pedestal can be accurately pressurised to balance the full payload after installation of the
camera, camera accessories and all ancillary equipment, such as pan bars.

To balance the full payload, proceed as follows:

1.

Press and rotate the height mode knob [20] anti-clockwise to select manual
operation MAN.

2.

Press and rotate the cable release button [37] clockwise to disengage the robotic
height drive.

3.

Rotate the steering ring [19] so that the pressure gauge [1] is visible through the
window (remove a trim weight, if necessary). Check that the pedestal pressure
approximately matches the estimated payload (see Fig. 4).

NOTE:

It is possible to extend the column while AUTO is selected. However, the robotic
drive gas-struts will remain engaged, upsetting the column balance.

NOTE:

It is only possible to push and rotate the cable release button when the column is
fully depressed.
