Note The DPOAE protocols differ in the amount of averaging time per frequency.
The DP 4s protocol is the default. This averaging time is the time the
screener uses to render a decision on that frequency. The DP 2s (2 second)
protocol uses 2 seconds per frequency and results in faster test times at a
minimum of 8 seconds. However, it may increase the false referral rate.
The DP 4s (4 second) protocol uses 4 seconds averaging time per
frequency and results in slower test time at a minimum of 16 seconds per
tes. However, it may reduce the false referral rate.
