Caller ID

Caller ID service from the phone company

This unit is compatibie with a Caller ID service offered by your local telephone company. To use this
feature, you must subscribe to a Caller ID service.

Caller ID and its capabilities

Caller ID allows you to view the name or telephone number of the caller before you answer the call. The calling
party information (name has priority) will be displayed after the first ring.

By using Caller ID, you have the option of whether or not to answer the call depending on the caller.

The unit also stores the caller’s information and prints a list automatically after every 35 calls.

• To print out the Caller ID list manually, see page 121.

Important:

• When you subscribe to a Caller ID sen/ice, set the following ring count settings to 2 or more rings:

— TAD/FAX mode ring count (p. 105)
— FAX ONLY mode ring count (p. 74), and
— TEL/FAX delayed ring count {p. 81).

How Caller ID is displayed

I

When a call is received, the display will show the

caller’s name after the first ring.

Example:

ROGER DAVIS

You can display the caller’s name and number

respectively by pressing (NAME/TEL NO.].

After hanging up, the caller’s information (name,
telephone number and the time of the call) will

automatically be saved in the Caller ID list (see
page 52).

[NAME/TEL NO.)

Note:

• If the caller’s name and number cannot be received, the following message will be displayed.

Display:

NO NAME RCVD

• When the unit is connected to a PBX system, you may not receive the caller’s information. Consult with your PBX supplier.
• The Caller ID service is currently provided in calling areas by caller identification technology. When the

caller’s information cannot be received, the display will show as follows.

— If the caller dialed from an area which does not provide the Caller ID service:

OUT OF AREA

— If the caller has requested not to send their information:

PRIVATE CALLER

— If the caller made a long distance call:

LONG DISTANCE
