Appendix B – Quick Reference for Releasing OCR Full Text Files
The following figure provides a quick reference for setting up the release of OCR full text files to
IBM DB2 Content Manager. It lists the following:

OCR full text options are supported by the IBM DB2 Content Manager Enterprise release
script. The options are available from the General Settings tab. Refer to the section General
Settings Tab on page 27 for a description of the tab.

Content Manager item type requirements for using the release script’s OCR full text
options.
„
Information about how document parts are stored in Content Manager, based on the
selected OCR full text option, the type of documents being released, and the item type.
Refer to the documentation that came with your DB2 Content Manager Enterprise Edition product
for more details about setting up item types in Content Manager.

1 BASE is visible via the Content Manager Windows client application.
KofaxOCR is invisible via Content Manager Windows client application.
Note To release OCR as part of the image (image stored as base), the KofaxOCR semantic
type must be created on the Content Manager server. Refer to the documentation that
came with your DB2 Content Manager Enterprise Edition product for more information
about creating semantic types.
2 ICMBASE part is base document. It is not text searchable.
ICMBASETEXT part is text searchable through the IBM Net Search Extender (NSE). NSE
is formerly known as the Text Information Extender (TIE) in previous versions.
3 eDocuments can also be stored as ICMBASETEXT when the option "Make documents
text-searchable" is enabled on the General Settings tab.
