The arm is now ready to practice venipuncture.

Replacing Skin and Veins:

When excessive leaking occurs at the puncture sites, either
a new multi-vein system or skin should be installed to
reduce loss of fluid. The ideal work area when replacing
veins and skin is at a sink.

1. Remove the skin:

a. If replacing the skin and the veins, cut the skin off.

This can be done with a sharp knife or scalpel. (See
Fig. 1) When finished, discard the skin.

b. If replacing only the veins, lubricate the inside of the

skin with liquid detergent. Begin at the top of the
arm and roll the skin down and off of the arm and
hand. The thumb will detach with the skin. NOTE: If
reusing the skin after replacing the tubing, be sure
the thumb insert is in place before continuing. A new
skin has the thumb already inserted.
