BEFORE BEGINNING

Identify and verify that you have all

the parts listed. Read the instructions at least
once to fully understand how the Standard
Door Templates work.

TEMPLATES

The Standard Door Templates are not

for use on a shaper. We manufacture a line
of HD Door Templates (5457-5468) for the
shaper.

The templates are engraved with the

PART SIZE RANGE it is designed for,
from 5-6" up to 16-18" parts. Each pair
of templates (10 rail and 10 panel) are the
same length.

The templates are designed with a

5/16" overlap. When used with a flush trim-
ming bit, they will cut the panel and rail to
precise overlapping and mating contours.

The Standard Door Templates are

not to be used with a cope & pattern
bit or raised panel bit, unless you have
our Frame & Panel Master (5435 - see
back of page)
or HD Frame Master &
HD Panel Master (5432 & 5433).

TOP RAIL WIDTH

The 5450 & 5460 templates (1-3/4"

rise) are designed for 4" finished width rails
and the 5451 & 5461 templates (2-3/4"
rise)
are designed for 5" finished width
rails. All will have a 2-1/4" wide rail at the
narrowest point. If you want narrower rails,
rip them down after using the template or
offset the template/fences on the part using
spacers. For wider rails, cut wider stock and
don't use the fences.
The

Arched

Templates

(5460 or 5461)

may cut a slightly narrower rail than 4" or
5", depending on where the end of the arc
falls on the part length.

FIGURING FRAME SIZE

If you're using 2-1/4" wide stiles with a 3/8" deep groove in them, the fin-

ished frame size will be 3-3/4" larger (2-1/4" - 3/8" = 1-7/8" x 2 = 3-3/4") than
the PART SIZE engraved on the template. For example a 5-6" template + 3-3/4" =
8-3/4"- 9-3/4" finished frame size.
Using the formula above, with your stile width
and groove depth, figure the dimension to add to the engraved part size to find your
finished frame size.
