Removing and Replacing the Blades’ Drive Belt

Tools and Supplies Needed:

3/8", 7/16", 1/2" and 9/16" Wrenches

Flat Screwdriver

17" Cable Tie (for Carbon Canister version)

Side Cutters or Scissors

Hooked End Pulling Tool - Optional (we suggest a Tent Peg Puller)

1. For Pro and Pro-Xl Models, Turn the Fuel Shut-Off Valve to the OFF

position (Figure 29).

2. Remove the Bolts and Lock Washers from both sides of the Fuel Tank

Mount using a 1/2" Wrench.

3. Using a 3/8" Wrench or Socket, remove the three Bolts, Lock Washers, and

Flat Washers that retain the Pulley Cover.

4. Lift up the front of the Fuel tank Mount so you can remove the Pulley Cover

(Figure 30).

5. Remove the Strain Relief (with Wire Harness) from the Fuel Tank Mount by

pushing the Locking Tabs in with a screwdriver and pushing it into and
down out of the cutout.

6. For 20 HP Kohler only - Cut the Cable Tie that is connected to the Carbon

Canister.

7. Carefully lift and set the Fuel Tank Mount to the Fuel Line side of the Engine

(right hand side) (Figure 31).

8. Using a 9/16" Wrench, remove the top Nut from the Belt Tension Spring

Mounting Stud.

9. Using a Hooked End Pulling Tool, remove the Belt Tension Spring from the

Mounting Stud by hooking the Tool in the Spring End and pulling the
Spring up and over the Stud.
