Pre-Start Settings, Procedures and Recommendations:
Note: If installing JIMS 120”, 131” or 135” in a 2008 FL or later read the following:
Harley-Davidson ® made changes on the 2008 to H-D ® motor mount using a new number 16321-
08, installed on the front head. JIMS 120”, 131”, and 135” Twin Cam ® Engines being installed
in a 2008 FL have been designed with a new machined pad on the front head. Each engine re-
quires two spacers and each one of the spacers needs to be installed on the inside of the head
mount between the front motor mount and head. In other words the spacers will be sandwiched
between the front and the chrome motor mount. One spacer will be needed for the pushrod side
of the head mount; it will be the thicker of the two at .300” thickness, JIMS part number 1708-
1550. The other spacer is .250” thick, JIMS part number 1708-1551 and will need to be installed
on the primary side of the head mount. After installing both spacers between head and motor
mount, and after bolts are torqued to 10 ft-lb, check for rocker box to motor mount clearance,
which needs to be at least 1/16”. Use stock bolt H-D number 4721 with stock washer H-D num-
ber 6127. Follow the H-D Service Manuel for installation and torquing information.
STEP 13: Ignition - Installation all Carburated Engines
Follow the ignition manufactures instruction when installing per application. JIMS recommends
for carburated only the “JIMS Race Ignition” that can be ordered separately from JIMS sales Dept-
ment.
Use JIMS No. 2344 Carburated Race Ignition.
Use on 1999 - 2003 Alpha carburated only models.
Use on 2000 - 2003 Beta carburated only models.
Use H-D 32124-04 or equilivant for 2004 - 2006 Alpha or Beta carburated only models.
STEP 14: Ignition - Application Information for Fuel injected Engines
JIMS recommended ignition for fuel injection engines is the Screamin' Eagle Pro Super Tuner and
the Screamin' Eagle Pro Tuner Software with "Smart - Tune". You may also need a Pro Tuner cable
kit and a Pro Tuner training DVD.
These are for race application only.
Use H-D 32109-08A S.E. Pro Super Tuner for 02 and later EFI Dyna, Softail, and 02 - later EFI Tour-
ing, and trike.
Use H-D 32111-10 S.E. Pro Tuner software with "Smart Tune" for 02 and later EFI Dyna,Softail,
and 02 - later EFI Touring, and trike.
Use H-D 32184-08 Screamin' Eagle Pro Tuner cable kit.
Use H-D 32101-10 Screamin' Eagle Pro Tuner training DVD.
STEP 15: Throttle Bodies and Manifolds - Application Information for Fuel Injected
Engines
JIMS recommended throttle bodies and manifolds for the fuel injection engines is as follows:
JIMS throttle bodies are for all 2006 to 2010 throttle cable style motorcycles. These JIMS cannot
be used on electronic throttle by wire models used on some 2008 to present motorcycles. Fol-
low the throttle body manufactures instruction when installing per application.
