SAT 3C/D/F Benefits and Features

SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER VERSES SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER BENEFITS

THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER HAS A SMALLER MECHANICAL FOOT PRINT THAN THE OLD SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER

THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER USES THE SAME WIRING AS THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER

THE SAT 3C/D CONTROLLER USES THE SAME TUC AND RTU COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL AS THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER -
SO IN THEORY, A TUC OR RTU CHANGE OUT IS NOT REQUIRED WHEN CHANGING A SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER TO A SAT 3C/D

CONTROLLER. BUT MUCH BETTER CONTROL IS GENERALLY POSSIBLE WITH THE NEWER WCC III BASED TUC/RTU SOFTWARE.

THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER USES THE SAME SATELLITE DATA FILES AS THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER

THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER PROGRAM UPDATES ARE AVAILABLE VIA A "FLASH" PROGRAMMING OR A DOWNLOADED
UPDATE. THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER SOFTWARE UPDATES HAD TO BE CHANGED OUT WITH A EPROM. THE SAT 3C/D/F
CONTROLLER CAN BE CHANGED BY REMOTELY DOWNLOADING THE SOFTWARE OR BY "FLASHING" A NEW PROGRAM

THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER HAS AN ADDITIONAL FOUR LEDS THAT DISPLAY THE STATUS OF THE RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT
FOR THE SAT LOOP RS-485 AND TUC LOOP RS-485 COMMUNICATIONS. IT DOES THIS FOR BOTH THE SAT III COMMUNICATIONS
LOOP AND THE TUC PORT. IN ADDITION, THERE IS A SEPARATE LOCAL SET LED, AND THREE STATUS LEDS.
THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER ONLY HAD AN LED THAT WAS A COMBINATION - POWER, COMMUNICATIONS, AND LOCAL SET
INDICATOR FOR THE SATELLITE MANCHESTER COMMUNICATIONS LOOP.

SAT III - COMMUNICATIONS
THE SAT 3C/D/F CONTROLLER NOW USES RS-485 COMMUNICATIONS. THE SAT 2C/D CONTROLLER USED A TRANSFORMER
COUPLED MANCHESTER ENCODED PROTOCOL THAT WAS DIFFICULT TO TROUBLESHOOT. THE BEST BENEFIT OF HAVING
RS-485 COMMUNICATIONS IS THAT IT CAN BE TROUBLESHOT WITH A DIGITAL VOLTMETER.
