PRE-RIDE INSPECTION

Clutch

Make certain the clutch is work-

ing properly.
Operate the clutch a few times

and check for smooth operation

and proper free-play (1) [.080″

(2mm)]
If the free-play is incorrect, loos-

en the lock nut (2) and turn the

adjustment sleeve (3) until free-

play is correct. Tighten the lock

nut (2) after you are finished.
If the operation of the clutch

cable is not smooth, ask your

Victory dealer to inspect the op-

eration and determine if any re-

pair or lubrication is needed.

Throttle

Make sure the throttle grip operates properly and check the freeplay. The grip

should return when released. If the throttle does not rotate smoothly to the idle

position, the bike should be taken to a Victory dealer for adjustment.

WARNING: A throttle that does not return freely presents a serious hazard.

Do not ride a bike with a throttle that does not work perfectly! Doing so can lead

to a serious crash.

Engine Idle

Before each ride, the operator should inspect engine idle speed. After the engine

has reached operating temperature the idle speed should be at 950 rpm ± 50. If

the idle speed is incorrect, the bike should be taken to a Victory dealer for adjust-

ment.

Lights, Signals and Switches

Check the headlight, front position lights, turn signals, taillight, brake light,

speedometer lights and all the indicator lights to make sure they are in working con-

dition.
Check the operation of the horn switch, start switch, engine stop switch and main

switch.

Fittings and Fasteners

Always check the tightness of chassis fittings and fasteners before a ride. Take the

motorcycle to a Victory dealer or refer to the Service Manual for correct tightening

torque.
