Weed Destroyer BG 500

Do not change settings or make modifications made by the
producer. It is dangerous to change the structure of the device on
your own authority, to remove parts or to use parts which are not
approved by the manufacturer.

Use with this device solely gas cartridges of 330 g, which correspond
to the European Norm EN 417 (e.g. cartridge No. 70801, which
is provided, or replacement cartridges No. 48810 + 52107). These
standard gas cartridges can be obtained in building and home
stores easily. It could be dangerous to try to attach other gas
cartridges.

The device may only be used outside.

Steps to be taken before fitting the gas cartridge
Make sure that all attachments and other connections are correctly
connected and nothing is damaged. Before attaching the gas
cartridge ensure the gasket (No. 8, picture II) in the gas supply
valve of the device (No. 6) is not missing and that it is in a good
condition (visual check). This gasket guarantees a gas tight
connection between the device and the cartridge. Ensure that
parts where the gas flows are not damaged. Do not use a device
with a damaged or worn out gasket. Do not use a leaking or
damaged device or a device not working properly. Before fitting
the gas cartridge, close the gas regulation valve on the device.
It is very important that always before you light the flame on the
burner, you make sure that all parts are tightly connected. Never
look for a leaking spot with a flame but use soapsuds (e.g. 10
drops of washing-up liquid with water) or a leak seeking spray.

Very important!
Do not use the device in a way where the gas cartridge is held
horizontally or where the cartridge valve is pointing downwards.
In this case, liquid gas would stream into the burner, which would
lead to a reddish blazing uncontrolled flame. It is possible that the
burner will not work properly. The appliance has to be immediately
positioned upright again (see picture I) with the cartridge valve
pointing up and the gas regulation valve (No. 1) is to be closed.
After 2-3 minutes the appliance is fully functional again. Do not
shake the gas cartridge / device before or during operation as the
liquid gas could stream out. Should the liquid gas stream out,
close the gas regulation valve (No. 1) immediately. After 2-3
minutes the appliance is fully functional again.

Change the gas cartridge only when outside, far away from all
possible combustible sources, as e.g. open fire, pilot lights, electric
cooking appliances, and in a sufficient distance from other persons.

Test for Leaks
If gas leaks out of your device (you can smell gas), take it out
immediately to a place with a good air circulation with no
inflammable sources, where you can look for the leak and fix it.
Be very careful to test gas tightness of your device only outside.
Never seek leaking connections using a flame. Always spread
soapsuds over the connections or use a leak-seeking-spray!
