DEFINE 4 TYPES AND 3 PERFORMANCE LEVELS FOR

KNEE PADS!
Types
Type 1: Knee protection that is independent from other clothing

and is fixed to the leg.

Type 2: Knee protection that is fixed e.g. in pockets on trouser

legs.

Type 3: Equipment that is not fixed to the body.
Type 4: Knee protection that is part of devices with additional

functions, e.g. on a frame to aid standing up.

Performance levels
There are three performance levels:
Level 0 is knee protection that is suitable for use on an even floor
surface and that does not offer protection against puncture.
Level 1 is knee protection that is suitable for use on an even or
uneven floor surface and that offers protection against puncture
at a force of (100±5) N.
Level 2 is knee protection that is suitable for use on an even or
uneven floor surface in difficult conditions and offers protection
against puncture at a force of (250±10) N.

Putting the knee pads on

Put on the knee pads on the knees by using the hook-and-loop
strips to cover the kneeling area. The upper edge of the knee
pad should be 2 cm above the bent knee. The knee pads can
be worn over standard work clothes or directly on the skin. The
knee pads are suitable for all sizes. Please check that the knee
pads are comfortable and are fixed sufficiently tightly for the
upcoming task.
