PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS

Safety Information

v

CAUTION!

This tester should only be used by qualified personnel.

Always use appropriate Safety attire and equipment.

If the unit is dropped, damaged or for any reason you suspect its op-

eration, test it on a known AC source or energized fluorescent lamp

before making ANY high voltage tests.

v

WARNING!

3 Phase feeder cables with conductors close together may self-cancel

the electric field and not be detected by your TIC Tracer.

Verify the phase conductors are separated by at least 5” (13cm) be-

fore testing for AC voltage.

When approaching an unknown high voltage, always start with the

unit switched to the Low range. Then approach the voltage from a

safe distance.

v

TIC 300HV

When approaching an unknown high voltage, always start with the

unit switched to the Low range. Then approach the voltage from a

safe distance.

For 3 phase voltages above 1500 V, the sensor will not be able to

detect a missing phase if the switch is set on the LOW range. Use the

HIGH range.

Do not let the unit make contact with a live line with voltage greater

than 20 kV.

Use a “Hot Stick” at all times on voltages above 1500VAC.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before operating, the 9V battery must be installed as described in the

Maintenance section.

Voltage Detection

1. Turn unit on by sliding the power switch down to the ON

position. TIC 300HV- Slide the switch down to the LOW

position
