To turn the camera back on when the lens is retracted, either
press the

button or slide the OPEN switch to open the lens

cover. Otherwise, slide the OPEN switch to close the lens
cover, then slide it again to open the lens cover and turn the
camera back on.

Note:
If the camera is connected to a computer, the automatic shut-off
feature does not turn the camera off automatically.

Taking Pictures Using the LCD monitor

By using the LCD monitor, you can get a good idea of what
the image will look like before taking pictures and confirm
image quality immediately after taking pictures. Use the LCD
monitor when you want to take pictures using the digital
zoom feature or the macro setting.

Follow these steps to take pictures using the LCD monitor.

1. Slide the OPEN switch to extend the lens. A live preview

appears on the LCD monitor. Center the subject of your
photo in the LCD monitor.

Note:
You can turn the LCD monitor’s icon display off by pressing

the MENU button once. To turn the icon display back on,
press the
MENU button twice.

Hold the camera steadily with both hands and keep it still

for a few moments after you press the shutter button.
