Basic Mechanics

• Cigarette lighter adapter from the battery module is used to power the

system from vehicle battery. Please note that in some vehicles, NavMate
will stay on even when the key is removed from the vehicle. Display unit
can be turned off using the ON/OFF switch located on the left side. Always
unplug the cigarette lighter adapter when vehicle is parked for more than
four hours. The batteries in NavMate ensure a normal shutdown in order to
store vehicle's last location, previous destinations, and address book
information.

• The batteries do not charge in the car. Use the wall charger provided with

the kit to charge the batteries once a month for 14 hours or when red bulb on
top of the tray illuminates.

• Portable NavMate does not use a vehicle speed sensor. It is recommended

that the GPS antenna be mounted on the roof of the vehicle, in clear view of
the sky to receive a GPS signal.

• The system will take approximately seven minutes to initialize when it is

used for the first time or when battery has been drained.
