How to create a Shared Folder in user-based

mode

To access the Shared Folder screen:

Double-click the HP Media Vault icon on your desktop.

Click Customize your HP Media Vault’s setting.

If the Welcome Screen appears, click Configure Device.

Click the Shared Folders tab.

To create a Shared Folder in user-based mode:

1. Click Create New Shared Folder.
2. In the New Shared Folder Name box, enter a descriptive name.
3. From the

Volume

drop-down list, choose the disk volume on which the new Shared Folder will reside.

4. Complete one or more of the following steps:

Click

Network Computers

(

CIFS

). Select either Read-only access or Full Access. Your media

vault automatically defaults to Full Access.

Click

Network Computers

(

NFS

). Select either Read-only access or Full Access. Your media

vault automatically defaults to Full Access.

Click

Web Browser

. Select either Read-only access or Full Access.

Click

FTP

. Select either Read-only access or Full Access.

The screen’s lower section contains an information box that lists your currently defined users and their

privilege levels

. Each defined user must have a privilege level for every

Shared Folder

you create. To

assign privilege levels for each user:

5. Select a user from the Select Username drop-down list.
6. Select a privilege level from the Select Privilege Level drop-down list.
7. Click Add.
8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 for each defined user.
9. Click Accept or Cancel. (If you select Cancel, everything that you entered on this screen will not be

accepted.)
