Playing at Random—Random Play
The tracks of the loaded MD will be played at random.
• Random Play ends when all the tracks are played once (when
Repeat Play is not activated).
• To use Repeat Play (see page 41) with Random Play, press
REPEAT during or before Random Play.

Load an MD.
• If the current playing source is not “MD,” press MD , then
7 before going to the next step.
On the remote control ONLY:

Press PLAY/FM MODE repeatedly
until “MD RANDOM” appears
on the display.
The RANDOM indicator lights up on the display.
• Each time you press the button, play mode changes as follows:

Press MD .
The tracks are played at random.
Random Play ends when all the tracks are played once (when
Repeat Play is not activated).
To stop during play, press 7.
Playback stops, but Random Play is still activated.
To skip the current playing track, press ¢.
To skip back to the beginning of the current track, press 4.
• You cannot go back to the previous tracks.
To exit from Random Play, before or after play, press PLAY/FM
MODE repeatedly so that the unit enters another play mode (Group
Play, Normal Play, or Program Play).
The RANDOM indicator goes off.
• Turning off the unit or ejecting MD also cancels Random Play
and changes the playback mode to Normal Play.

Playing Tracks in a Group—Group Play
You can play back tracks in a group.
• To make or edit groups, see pages 54 to 62.
• To use Repeat Play (see page 41) with Group Play, press REPEAT
after starting Group Play.

Load an MD including groups.
• If the current playing source is not “MD,” press MD , then

group.
• GROUP/TITLE >>I:
Selects group numbers in the increasing order.
• GROUP/TITLE I<<:
Selects group numbers in the decreasing order.

Press MD .
The tracks in the selected group starts playing.
• When the loaded MD has no groups, all the tracks on the
MD are played back in the same way as Normal play.
Group Play ends when all the tracks in the selected group are
played once (when Repeat Play is not activated).
