Error/Warning Messages

Error/Warning Messages
There are two kinds of messages: error messages and
warning messages. This section lists these messages
together with their possible causes and remedies. Note
the messages and act accordingly.
Error Messages
If a problem occurs, the ALARM lamp lights in orange
and an error message stating the problem appears on the
monitor and in the printer window display. In the error message introduced in the following tables,
“nn” indicates the number or symbol displayed in the
actual message.

SET RIBBON AND PAPER SET RIBBON
SET PAPER An ink ribbon and paper are not loaded.
tLoad the ink ribbon and paper. (See pages 13 and 14.)
SET PAPER SET PAPER • Paper has been exhausted.
tLoad the paper. (See page 14.) Also, replace the ink
ribbon.
• The paper tray is not installed.
tInstall the paper tray. (See page 15.)
SET RIBBON SET RIBBON The ink ribbon is not loaded.
tLoad the ink ribbon. (See page 13.)
RIBBON END RIBBON END • The ink ribbon has been exhausted.
tReplace the old one with a new ink ribbon. (See
page 13.) (The ink ribbon cannot be reused.) In this
case, if the white paper is ejected. Discard this paper.
• The ink ribbon has torn.
tRepair the torn ink ribbon. (See page 14.)
REMOVE PRINTS REMOVE PRINTS The maximum number of printouts has accumulated on the
paper tray.
tRemove the printouts. Printing starts again.
REMOVE PAPER TRAY REMOVE PAPER
TRAY The paper jams around the paper tray.
tRemove the paper tray and pull out any jammed paper.

PAPER MISMATCH PAPER MISMATCH The ink ribbon and paper are not compatible.
tUse the ink ribbon and paper contained in the same
package. (See page 57.)
CLOSE DOOR CLOSE DOOR The front door is open.
tClose the front door.
CHECK RIBBON nn CHECK RIBBON nn • The ink ribbon has torn.
tRepair the torn ink ribbon. (See page 14.)
• An ink ribbon that can not be used with this printer has
been loaded.
tLoad the appropriate ink ribbon. (See page 57.)
CHECK PAPER:LOAD nn CHECK PAPER nn
LOAD Paper has jammed inside the printer.
tRemove any jammed paper from the printer. (See
page 64.)
CHECK PAPER: EJECT nn CHECK PAPER nn

MECHA TROUBLE:HEAD nn MECHA TROUBLE nn
HEAD Some trouble occurs in the printer.
tTurn off the printer once. Then turn on the printer again
and try to operate the printer.
If the error message appears again, contact your Sony
service facility or your Sony dealer to clear the error
status.
