Using One Button Timer & Rec
You can easily set the timer to view or record programs by selecting
future programs directly from program guides.
To record a future program use the VCR Control feature to turn on your
VCR and start recording automatically. For information on how to set up
the VCR Control feature, see page 25.
Highlight and select a future program using any of
the methods described in “Viewing Station and
Program Information (GUIDES)” on pages 34
through 42.
Return
Closes the future
program pop-up to show
the current guide.
Tune to Station
Closes the program guide
to show the current
program of the selected
station.
Add to Timer & Rec
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for
recording, and opens the
schedule pop-up.
Add to Timer
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for
tuning, and opens the
schedule pop-up.
Once
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for one
time tuning and/or recording.
Monday–Friday
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for the
remaining week days of the
current week for tuning and/
or recording.
Weekly
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for
tuning and/or recording on
the same day of the following
four weeks.
Daily
Adds the program to the
Timer & Rec display for
tuning and/or recording
every day for the next 30 days.
z Tips
• When using the VCR Control feature to record a
future program, make sure that the VCR is turned
off before the program begins. The VCR Control
feature will turn on your VCR and start recording.
• You can set up the Digital Satellite Receiver to send
program information to your VCR so it records the
information at the beginning of the recording. See
page 27 for information.
• Your Digital Satellite Receiver has a Program Data
Download feature and will automatically send the
following information when you record a program
with a Sony SmartFile VCR: program title,
program category, program date/time and
duration.
For further information regarding the SmartFile
function, refer to your Sony SmartFile VCR
Operating Instructions.
• When you schedule two or more continuous
events to be recorded, the Auto Title Insert and
Program Data Download features will only send
information about the first of the recorded
programs.
