The flash is not flashed in movie recording

mode.

If the lens hood is attached, it may interfere

with flash operation. When you record photos

using the flash, remove the lens hood.

FLASH LEVEL

You can set this function when you

record photos using the built-in flash, or

an external flash (sold separately) that is

compatible with your camcorder.

HIGH ( )

Makes the flash level higher.

 NORMAL ( )

LOW ( )

Makes the flash level lower.

REDEYE REDUC (Redeye
reduction)

You can set this function when you

record photos using the built-in flash, or

an external flash (sold separately) that is

compatible with your camcorder.

When you set [REDEYE REDUC] to [ON],

then set [FLASH MODE] to [AUTO] or

[ON], appears. You can prevent redeye

by activating the pre-flash before the flash

flashes.

 OFF

Does not prevent redeye.

ON ( )

Prevents redeye.

Notes

The redeye reduction may not produce the

desired effect due to individual differences and

other conditions.

The redeye function does not work with

automatic recording by [SMILE DETECTION].

STEADYSHOT

You can compensate for camera shake.

Set [ STEADYSHOT] to [OFF] (

when using a tripod (sold separately), then

the image becomes natural.

The SteadyShot function is used.

OFF (

The SteadyShot function is not used.

FLASH MODE

You can select the flash setting when you

record photos using the built-in flash, or

an external flash (sold separately) that is

compatible with your camcorder.

AUTO

Automatically flashes when there is

insufficient ambient light.

ON ( )

Always uses the flash regardless of the

surrounding brightness.

 OFF ( )

Records without flash.

Notes

The recommended distance to the subject when

using the built-in flash is approximately 0.3 to

1.5 m (11 7/8 to 59 1/8 in.).

Remove any dust from the surface of the flash

before using it. Flash effect may be impaired if

heat discoloration or dust obscures the lamp.

The /CHG (flash/charge) lamp (p. 15) flickers

while charging the flash, and remains lit when

the battery charge is complete.

If you use the flash in bright places such as

when shooting a backlit subject, the flash may

not be effective.

The flash is not flashed when [CONVERSION

LENS] (p. 90) is set to other than [OFF], you

cannot also set [FLASH MODE].
