Flange Back Adjustment

The flange back is the distance between the lens (sold separately) and the image capturing surface of
the camera. It is adjusted at the time of shipment from the factory to accommodate the types of lenses
that are generally assumed to be in use.

Accordingly, the flange back does not normally need to be adjusted. However, if attaching a zoom lens
and changing from wide angle to telephoto, the images may not be captured in proper focus, and so in
such cases the flange back should always be adjusted by following the procedure given below.

1

Connect a cable between the MONITOR
OUT connector of the camera and the
VIDEO IN connector of a monitor.

2

Turn on the camera’s power.

Adjust the flange back while viewing the
camera images on the monitor.

3

Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the
two flange back locking screws.

4

Move the zoom lens to the telephoto
setting, and then use the lens focus ring
to adjust the focus.

5

Move the zoom lens to the wide angle
setting, and then use the flange back
adjustment dial to adjust the focus.

6

Move the zoom lens from wide angle to
telephoto (repeating steps 4 and 5) and
check that the images are properly
focused. Then tighten the flange back
locking screws.
