Trouble shooting guide

Problem
– When using the binoculars and

not wearing glasses, the dot on
the armouring lines up with the
arrow on the focusing thumb-
wheel and you cannot focus the
image to.

– The focusing thumbwheel can-

not be turned fully. The marks
are visible in the scale window,
and the optical system on one
side if the binoculars is out of
focus.

Cause

– In basic focusing, one of the

two halves of the drive was
moved at least half a turn
beyond the scale range. The
displayed value is outside the
working range of the binocu-
lars.

Solution
– The identification mark (arrow

on the armouring, left near the
focusing thumbwheel) for “infin-
ity” is given with reference to
0 diopeter difference in eye-
sight correction. If the binocu-
lars have been set for a diffe-
rence between the eyes, or if
you are near- or far-sighted by
the same amount in both eyes,
the position of these symbols
when you focus to infinity
varies correspondingly.

– To reset the binoculars to nor-

mal, turn both thumbwheels in
opposing directions until the
scale returns to the centre of
the window. You can now adjust
the focusing.
