Fax reception
●
The telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit.
Connect to the LINE jack (p. 26).
●
The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the FAX ONLY or
TEL/FAX mode.
●
The time to answer the call is too long. Decrease the number of
rings (p. 62, 71).
●
The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode.
●
The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
●
The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 112).
●
Some paper has instructions recommending which side to print on.
Try turning the paper over. We recommend smooth paper such as
Hammermill
Jet Print for clearer printing.
●
The receiving reduction rate is not programmed correctly. Program
the proper rate (p. 73).

Cause & Remedy
Problem
I cannot receive documents.
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The display shows “CONNECTING.....”
but faxes are not received.
The recording image is faint.
The printing quality is poor.
A blank sheet is ejected after the
received documents are printed out.
Receive mode
●
If you set the FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode:
– Select the desired mode using feature #77 (p. 70), and
– Press
to turn on the AUTO ANSWER light.

If you set the TEL mode:
– Press
to turn off the AUTO ANSWER light.

Cause & Remedy
Problem
I cannot select the desired receive
mode.
Fax transmission

The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 112).
●
Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 56).
●
Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 34) or dial
manually.
Cause & Remedy
Problem
The other party complains that dirty
patterns or black lines appear on
their received documents.
I cannot make an international fax
call.
●
Pull the paper set lever, make sure the paper is inserted correctly
and push the paper set lever.
●
You may be programming the unit. Try to make a copy after
programming or stop the programming.
When you try to make a copy, the
unit beeps and the display shows
“CHECK PAPER”.
The unit does not make a copy.
